Around the Local

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday December 6 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Cody-White Funeral Home 107 North Broad Street, Milford CT, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday December 7 at 11:00am at Saint Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Avenue, Milford CT.

We were informed earlier today and with deep regret that we announce the passing of 34-year member Brother Raymond Carroll.  Brother Carroll began working in 1987 for ADM Electric and was initiated into Local Union 488 on May 16, 1988.  He completed his apprenticeship, became a Journeyman Wireman in 1991, and in 2000 became a business partner with All Electric Construction.  In addition, Brother Carroll over the years held various positions in the IBEW and NECA.

Hello, Brothers and Sisters. A lot of recent misinformation passed around has downplayed the accomplishments of the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats. With less than one week until Election Day, we’re setting the record straight to remind you of their landmark achievements over the last 18 months that are game changers for building trades members across the nation.

The Biden Administration and Congress have won a historic achievement for IBEW members and their families with the Inflation Reduction Act. The enormous energy and tax package will put IBEW members to work in family-sustaining jobs for the secure, self-reliant grid of the future.

Witnessing History:

With the stroke of the pen, alongside more than 10 IBEW members and a bipartisan group of lawmakers at the White House on Nov. 15, President Biden made official one of the biggest infrastructure investments in U.S. history.

President Biden appeared at the Electric City Trolley Museum in Scranton on October 20 to promote his domestic agenda and the hundreds of thousands of jobs that will be created to rebuild the nation’s degraded infrastructure.

Continuing a trend of filling labor-related posts with experienced pro-worker nominees, President Biden has selected Susan Tsui Grundmann and Kurt Rumsfeld for seats on the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

After nearly five years without a confirmed leader, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is headed by worker safety advocate Doug Parker.

Brothers and Sisters,

Read the latest OpEd from CT LMCC Director and former State Senator and Mayor of Bridgeport CT: https://ctmirror.org/category/ct-viewpoints/a-fair-deal-for-building-trades/

When you drive by a construction site and see license plates from a bunch of other states, doesn’t that make you wonder — why aren’t local workers building local buildings?

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SIGNED UP
