Norman John Brown, Jr., age 84, of Stratford, beloved husband of Nora (Hogan) Brown passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Brown was born July 31, 1936, in Bridgeport, son of the late Norman and Marion (Peterman) Brown Sr. and had been a lifelong area resident.
Norm was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School, was a retired electrician for IBEW Local number 488 and a United States Army Veteran having served in Germany. He worked after retirement at Bullard Havens Technical School. He was also a member of American Legion Post 196 in Milford.
He enjoyed gardening, his coin collection, walks on the beach, especially the Stratford Seawall but mostly spending time with Nora and his family.
In addition to his wife Nora, he is survived by his three children, Doug Brown, Kristen Cocca and her husband, Noel, and Dan Kurzawa; his daughter-in-law, Lori Brown; one sister, Marie Cerrone and her husband John; eight grandchildren, Kim, Dylan, Jessica, Paige, Jonathan, Hailey, Jack and Alyssa, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, John Brown and James Kurzawa; a grandson, Mike Prince and a brother, Richard Brown.
He will also be missed by his feline friend, Eloise.
Norman's family would like to thank the staff of NP 15 at Yale New Haven Hospital for the incredible care and compassion shown during his time there.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Friends may visit with his family Tuesday before service time from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment in Riverside Cemetery with full Military Honors will be private.
