IBEW 488 - COVID-19 Update

Sisters and Brothers:

Our Governor, Ned Lamont has ordered the closure of Connecticut restaurants, bars, gyms, and movie theaters and will restrict gatherings of more than 50 people.

The General Membership meeting for today, March 16 has been postponed.  A New date to be determined.

  • The Hall will remain open for regular business hours.  To limit foot traffic and help prevent the spread of the virus, we encourage you to please take effort to conduct business with us by telephone.
  • All JATC Apprenticeship Classes are postponed until April 7.  The JATC will reassess on April 2 to resume classes.  For questions please contact the JATC at 203-452-7679 or jatc488@yahoo.com.
  • Continued Education Class for March 25 is cancelled.  Available dates are April 29, May 13, May 16 and June 3, registration can be made at https://ibewlocal488.org/content/ceu-registration

CDC guidelines for gatherings recommends to cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.  For full details from the CDC, please go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html

Sisters and Brothers, please follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC to help prevent the spread of this Virus

In addition to the above:

  • If you are feeling sick, do not go to work.
  • Don’t shake hands when greeting others.
  • Try to stay three to six feet away from others in gatherings, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an
  • alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%–95% alcohol. Soap and water should be used if hands are visibly dirty.
  • It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
